Lewis Matt Will and Joe all enjoyed a great weekend of swimming at the Winter Short Course Regionals at Basildon Pool over the weekend, which included for the first time 4 x 50m Relay events which the 4 boys really enjoyed taking part in.
All the boys qualified for several Individual events , with Joe Fletcher swimming well in his first Regional Championships in the 1500m Free, 200m Free, 400m IM and 200m Back. Lewis Chapman selected his six best events from several which he had qualified in, swimming well and achieving Pbs in most of his races and some Summer Qualification times in the bag for next year. Will Handley swam well in Five events with two good pbs in 200m IM and 100m Breast. Youngest Stowmarket Team Member and National swimmer Matt Brown was in tremendous form swimming in 1500m Free with a 37sec PB and his 50m and 200m Butterfly swims were both short course pbs and all Summer Regional Qualifying times.
Fantastic Swimming Success at National Championships for Matthew Brown as he wins Bronze in the 200m Butterfly
Matthew did a super job at his first National Championships in Sheffield on Saturday swimming in the 14years 200m Butterfly. Matt qualified with an entry time of 2.22.42 which he achieved in May at East Regions. On Saturday morning he swam an exciting heat with a pb of 2.21.50 putting him into the final in 5th place. The Final in the Evening was a battle from the start between ten very good swimmers with Matt determined to give it everything, in the last 50m Matt was able to show his talent along with back end strength and speed and grab the Bronze medal with yet another big personal best time of 2.19.23. This is a tremendous achievement. Very well done Matt, we are so proud of you for such a super swim and putting Stowmarket on the medal table.
The first weekend in November took us to Luton for the East Regions Short Course Championships. We had six swimmers who qualified for this premier event Lewis Chapman Ella Dootson William Handley Matthew Brown Aidan Coe and Calvin Coe who unfortunately could not make it due to Uni exams, however his Brother Aidan proudly attended his first Regional event swimming the 50m Backstroke in a good time of 30.60.
Lewis Chapman had a great weekend swimming in ten events and achieving an incredible nine personal best times, whilst his team mate Will Handley also had a good weekend swimming in six events with five personal best times. Matt Brown also showed his strength in the 200m Fly, which would have been a 4 sec pb if he had remained still for the start. Ella Dootson the only female in Stowmarkets team this time also swam six events all of which were showing great strength and determination getting close to pbs,she left the best till last achieving over a half a second personal best in the 50m Breaststroke. Well done to you all for a great weekend of swimming.

Also travelling to Sheffield for The British Summer Championships was Lija Radziunaite(16) to do her favourite event 50m Backstroke.
Lija has had quite a difficult season this year , having to withdraw at the Regionals after the 50m Backstroke as she was unwell, and had not qualified for any other events this year.
In the 50m Backstroke at British Champs Lija finished in a time of 30.93 , Unfortunately not a Pb this time, but had made a great effort with a superb start, and swam strongly into 13th Place.
We wish Lija well for September and the future in her new College in Ipswich and her move to Team Ipswich.
