All swimmers enjoyed taking part in the exciting relay team events, which followed the skins event in which this year Stowmarket had the excitement of having both a girl and a boy take part with Calvin and Lija both swimming very well making their way through several rounds of this knock out competition.
The Mens open relay team Aaron, Lewis, Calvin and Manfred won Bronze in both Relays, very well done boys.
Congratulations to all swimmers that swam and to those that won awards at this years County Championships.

We have two County Champions Congratulations to Aaron Lynch for winning 50m and 100m Breaststroke and Lija Radziunaite for winning 50m Backstroke.
A fantastic achievement with the club finishing in 5th position out of 13 clubs within the County.
Aaron with County and East Region Presidents. County Champion 50m and 100m Breaststroke.
What a fantastic day we all had at the Waltham Forest meet held at the Olympic Pool Stratford on Sunday 7th January 2018, this was a brilliant experience for all squad swimmers to swim in this magnificent 50m pool, and to have the opportunity to achieve long course times. Well done to everyone. We won lots of medals achieving 3rd place as visiting club, with Sophie winning Top Girl in the 12yr age group and Calvin winning Top Boy in the 16+ age group. A very memorable day for us all.
The Winter Regionals this year was Long Course in preparation for The Commonwealths next year. This was held at UEA Norwich over the weekend of the 4th and 5th November ,This is mainly a Senior Competition with one set of qualification times , Stowmarket had 6 swimmers who qualified and represented the club , 5 of the Top squad swimmers, Calvin Coe, Manfred Battle, Lija Radziunaite, Ella Dootson and William Handley along with S9 swimmer Bethany Levett. All six swimmers performed very well , with Ella swimming in the 200m IM in her first ever Regional competition, Manfred swam superbly in a total of 8 events and made 2 finals in Backstroke , Calvin swam in a total of 6 events including the timed Final for 400m I.M. with most of his swims he achieved Long Course Personal Best times so was happy with his performances, Lija swam 5 events and like Manfred made 2 Backstroke Finals , with a Super swim in her favourite event 50m Back stroke storming to claim a Silver Medal . Will joined us on the Sunday where he swam 2 good performances in the 200m IM and 200m Breaststroke. Bethany was also in good form on Sunday when she swam in the 50m Free and 100m Backstroke events winning a Silver and Gold respectively. Well done to you all.
Manfreds second week of Competition brought us back to Sheffield for the English National Championships 2017
His first swim was 50m Free in which he went into the heat ranked 17th with an entry time of 26.13, he did a great pb of 25.67 placing him 4th into the Final where he produced another pb finishing again in 4th with a 25.33.
The next day was his 50m Backstroke, entering the heat with a time of 29.59 , another pb of 28.96 in the heat placed him 4th, in the Final Manfred did yet another pb 28.77 finishing 6th.
Then came the event Manfred was not looking forward to the 200m Butterfly , however Manfred rose to the challenge swimming yet another pb of over 1 .5 secs finishing in 7th with a time of 2.19.29, Manfred decided he was happy with this time so chose not to swim it again in the Final but to save his enegy for the 50m Butterfly the next day. This proved to be the correct decision especially as by now Manfred was getting tired it was now 12 days since he had first swam at the British Championships.
The start sheet for the 15 yr olds 50 Fly showed some very close racing with only .22 of a second between the fastest to slowest so a perfect start and fast transisision where crucial. Manfred finished his heat ranked 1st with another pb of .4 of a second 27.29. The Final was very exciting and of course nerve racking as we had seen so many good performances over the last 2 weeks from Manfred but no Medals. This was his last chance, and he took it, storming the closely fought final into 3rd position in yet another pb of 27.08 a fantastic achievement and so deserving of a Bronze Medal.
Manfred works so hard in training and I am so pleased that he has had so much success over the past 2 weeks at both the British Championships and National Championships, he qualified by Invitation in a total of 7 events, from which he qualified for finals in 5 events, swam a total of 11 events and achieved a total of 10 personal best times. I am obviously very proud of Manfreds achievements and hope that the younger members of the club will be inspired by his brilliant performances.
Manfred and Lija have just returned from Sheffield after some great performances,
15 year old Lija swam the 100m Back finishing 20th with a 1.07.59 and then Improved her performance in her preferered distance of 50m Backstroke qualifying for the final with a 30.35, In the fnal Lija did a fantastic start sprinting to a Bronze with a surperb swim in 29.92
15 year old Manfred had qualified in three events, he started off also with 100m Backstroke which he swam strongly finishing in 17th with good pb of 1:02.17. His next swim was 100m Butterfly in which Manfred showed great strength, technique and determination qualifying for the final with a pb by one and a half seconds of 59.21, in the final Manfred had a brilliant start and powered to 6th position with yet another pb of 58.97, then it was 200m Backstroke which again he showed fine form and strength finishing in 14th in 2.15.47
